Mauricio Rebollar-López is a 1st generation Mexican-American mixed media artist from Waukesha, Wisconsin, who graduated from Carthage College with a Bachelors in Studio Art and a minor in Spanish.
Unapologetically political, he has bore witness to how the political powers of the world have treated his and other's existence as chess pieces to be played for and against, pushed, pulled, and offered up as if it were toys.
The goal of the artwork?
Reflection.
Action.
Change.
The work engages in various traditional media whilst blending in new media and experimental installation. Through this exploration, Mauricio confronts the ongoing currents of gun violence, immigration, the racialized bureaucracy of citizenship in the United States of America, and, by proxy, its consequences and influence on the global stage.
